Repairing Concrete Cracks
Lets face it, concrete cracks! It is not always necessary to repair a crack before placing a concrete overlay. Depending on the application and design of the concrete overlay, the crack can often be incorporated and hidden in the new design. This is almost always possible with a trowel down, cut stone design. However, if you are applying a Spray-Crete type application, cracks can still be noticeable, especially with a blanket finish, so the crack may need to be addressed and mended.
It is not always possible to repair every crack as large chips on the corner of a driveway will often re-appear or larger structural cracks may show through your new overlay as a hairline crack. However a lot of cracks can be mended.
We can achieve great results by opening up the existing crack and filling the crack with a two part epoxy crack mender, if the crack is larger we will sometimes stitch with reinforcing steel, we then grind it flat before placing the new concrete coating or overlay.
